Christine Yukenbarri is the daughter of renowned artists Helicopter Tjungurrayi and Lucy Yukenbarri Napanangka and works through Warlayirti Artists, Wirrimanu (Balgo).
This vibrant painting refers to her mother’s Country, Winpurpurla. The Tjukurrpa for this Country tells of three women - Nungarrayi, Nampitjin and Napangardi - who camped at Winpurpurla to take advantage of the murlanpa flower. Harvested from the ‘sugar tree’, murlanpa is a great delicacy and Yukenbarri’s vibrant use of colour celebrates its importance.
