Brett Whiteley is one of Australia’s most celebrated artists, best known for his sensual and lyrical paintings of interiors, nudes and harbour scenes. Painted in 1976, Self-portrait in the studio exudes a sense of sumptuous living whilst hinting at darker themes including the artists’ struggles with addiction. Considered a highly unconventional portrait at the time, it won the 1976 Archibald Prize and was acquired into the Art Gallery of NSW Collection in 1977.
Featuring an off-white mat board border, this vibrant Self-portrait in the studio print fits a standard size A3 frame and available exclusively from the Gallery Shop.
