The tiny one square kilometer precinct of Potts Point and Elizabeth Bay in Sydney is a national treasure, containing the best collection of over 100 Art Deco (1930s and 40s) and Modernist (1960s) apartment blocks in Australia. Located only 2 kilometers from the city, with harbour and park views, it still retains remnants of its 19th century glory with some nine colonial mansions, however it is even more distinctive because of its 20th century Art Deco and Modernist built heritage.

This book provides a self-guided, 2-3 hour tour of this landmark area which was Sydney’s first exclusive suburb. Important Australian architects are represented on the tour, with five beautiful Art Deco buildings by Emil Sodersten and five Modernist gems by Harry Seidler.
