Roland Wakelin was a central figure in the development of modernism in Australian art during the early 20th century. Working closely with Roy De Maistre, both artists produced works imaging local scenes that were intensely coloured, radically simplified and anti naturalistic.
Part of the Art Gallery of New South Wales collection, Berry’s Bay (1919) demonstrates Wakelin’s signature use of colour and is available as an A3 size print, exclusive to the Gallery Shop.
