One of Twelve collaborate with emerging and established artists from the Asia Pacific region to produce high quality, wearable works of art and this versatile, double-sided, slim silk satin scarf features the work ‘Paynjarra Jumu’ by Penny K-Lyons.
Penny K-Lyons is a senior Walmajarri woman and her beautiful paintings show the traditional waterholes and hunting grounds of the Great Sandy Desert where she and her family lived up until the early 1950s. In ‘Paynjarra Jumu’ she paints the soakage sites visited as a child. The soakage is depicted by the blue circle in the centre of the painting, the blossoming Yarun (bloodwood trees) and bush tucker abundant in the area radiating outwards from the water source.
