Maurice de Vlaminck was a French painter and, along with André Derain and Henri Matisse, is considered one of the principal figures in the Fauve movement. Featuring lively colour and brushwork, Sailing boats at Chatou represents both Fauvism and Maurice de Vlaminck at the very peak of their achievement and is part of the Art Gallery of New South Wales collection.
