Mary Webb, began her artistic career in Sydney in the 1940s before making her name as an abstractionist and collagist in Paris in the 1950s. Joie de vivre was shown at Webb's solo exhibition at Galerie R Creuze in Paris, mounted only a month before untimely death in 1958. It was rediscovered after over four decades of storage in Paris and, with its engaging sense of movement and pastel hues, remains one of her most significant painterly contributions to Australian abstraction.
Produced in collaboration with local label Tradition Textiles, this beautiful scarf features detail of Joie de vivre. Made from 100% wool it is light-weight and luxuriously soft, with a soft frayed hem.
