Australian artist Jeffrey Smart was dedicated to representing the modern city. He saw beauty in the urban landscape and having absorbed the influences of Australian modernism in the 1940s, worked in a distinctive, highly finished and detailed style. Painted in 1973, Bus Terminus displayed the artist’s signature style and is part of the Art Gallery of New South Wales collection.
