Ku’ (dogs) are important to the Wik and Kugu people of Aurukun in Far North Queensland. Ku’ belong to all five clans of Aurukun, and artists from each of the clans worked on a major sculptural commission of 26 ku’ and 3 puppies for the opening of the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ new building.
Developed in direct collaboration with Wik & Kugu Arts Centre, the Camp Dog merchandise collection features designs drawn directly from these ku’ sculptures, with royalties from the sale of all products paid to the artists and the Wik & Kugu Arts Centre.
Exclusive to the Gallery Shop, this collectable enamel pin badge design is drawn from the sculpture Ku’ Piintal 2021 by Keith Wikmunea.
