Ku’ (dogs) are important to the Wik and Kugu people of Aurukun in Far North Queensland. Ku’ belong to all five clans of Aurukun, and artists from each of the clans worked on the sculpture series Pack of ku’ 2021-22 which was commissioned by the Art Gallery of New South Wales to coincide with the opening of its new building.
Drawn directly from the Pack of ku’ sculptures, the ‘Camp Dogs’ merchandise collection was developed in direct collaboration with the Wik and Kugu artists, with royalties from the sale of all products paid to the Wik & Kugu Arts Centre.
Ideal as a gift or keepsake from your Art Gallery visit, this collectable pin badge design is drawn from the sculpture Ku’ Kohn min-ak! 2021 by Leigh Namponan.
