Brett Whiteley is one of Australia’s most celebrated artists, best known for his sensual and lyrical paintings of interiors, nudes and harbour scenes. After establishing himself as an artist abroad, Whiteley famously resided in the harbour-side suburb of Lavender Bay and his large-scale, brilliantly-coloured paintings from this period are some of the most loved work in the Art Gallery of New South Wales collection.
Painted in 1974, Big orange (sunset) features vibrant colour influenced by the art of Matisse and is available as an A3 size print, exclusive to the Gallery Shop.
