Established in 1948, Ernabella Arts is Australia’s oldest, continuously running Indigenous Art Centre. Ernabella Arts is in Pukatja Community, at the eastern end of the Musgrave Ranges in the far north west of South Australia and the ceramics studio enables Anangu expression through the medium of clay.
Ernabella artists create sculptural and vessel-based works, using traditional and contemporary pottery techniques, most notably sgraffito. Layers of coloured glaze are hand-etched to create distinctly detailed designs, representing connection to Country and storytelling.
This coral and white vessel is by Ernabella artist Yaritji Jack.
