Folon Magritte: The Dream Factory brings together two internationally acclaimed painters - René Magritte and Jean-Michel Folon - in an exceptional visual dialogue.
By exploring the paths of mystery in his paintings, Magritte laid the foundations for the art of Folon, who constantly ventured into the realms of poetry. Where Magritte advocated the mystery emanating from everyday life, Folon opted for a dreamlike, stylised approach. Folon substitutes Magritte’s pigeon with a simple bird drawn with a single line. Instead of the surrealist's clearly outlined house, Folon adopts a rectangular parallelepiped, and so forth.
Folon admirably captured these two artworks in these words: “You can do anything in painting, even invent mysteries.”
